Our Stair Builder tool

Our Stair Builder tool

You are fully responsible for the measurements you provide during the order process via our stair builder tool.

Overall width of the staircase is measured including any newel posts (if present). Please consult the 2D plan for clarification.

Tread #1 is the first (bottom) step when viewing the 2d plan.

It is your responsibility to check your headroom requirements in line with regulations, and have a minimum clearance of 2000mm between the pitch line of your staircase and the ceiling. If you need any assistance regarding this we strongly advise you give us a call.

The stair builder tool is for information purposes only and you must always rely on your measurements and ensure they are correct.

Quality of Wood

Quality of Wood

Finished goods can vary in appearance due to the natural characteristics of wood.

Pine with knots

For example, these mystery marks are a naturally occurring finish called “medullary rays” and are something which add a rich character and beauty to all of oak items. Let us baffle you with the science… These rays are caused by plant cells which extend vertically at an angle that is perpendicular to the tree’s vertical cells or growth rings as they are more commonly known. These ribbon-like cells allow the conveyance of sap through the trunk, making them an essential part of the growing process of the tree. When the trunk is cut, the cells produce silvery slithers and markings across the sawn area that become particularly prominent when the oak is polished, varnished or oiled.

We cannot guarantee a perfect colour match in the finished product due to naturally occurring variables in timber. Our engineers will select material from our stock and attempt to get the best possible match for your order.

Some timber components are made up of several pieces of timber which are laminated together making it stronger. Whilst we strive for perfection in eliminating any visual signs of a joint being present in the lamination, they still may be visible.

Also please note that wood can swell and contract with a few mm variance.
